Barb Hering has been practicing law in Iowa since 1986 and joined Hopkins & Huebner in 2000. A graduate of Central College in Pella, Iowa, and Drake University Law School, Barb’s practice focuses on liability defense litigation in State and Federal Courts throughout Iowa. Her practice includes representing municipalities and law enforcement in a wide range of litigated matters and insurance carriers regarding coverage and bad faith.
Barb is a member of the Polk County and Iowa State Bar Associations. She is admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Barb served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable George G. Fagg, United States Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit, 1986-1989.

Barb Hering began her career in the legal field as a paralegal. That experience and the lawyers she worked with encouraged her to pursue law school. Barb has supervised new associate attorneys for approximately 25 of her 30 years in practice, which has been one of her most rewarding professional activities.
In her free time, Barb enjoys reading, cooking, learning to fix things, hiking and spending time with her family, which includes two grandchildren.
